I feel as if I’m always saying “it has been a weird spring for growing” and this year is no different. We were excited at the prospect of getting greens growing earlier in the greenhouse, but as the photo shows we had terrible luck with a lot of things.
Every year I let some part of our land get away from me and then it feels a bit overwhelming to try to bring it back from becoming a thicket. If we were in a more rural location, a bit more of farmland, I’d be less worried about keeping the edges “presentable.” Having a large lot (almost three acres) in neighborhood requires a bit more yard work to keep things presentable and not annoy the neighbors. That is where we are at.
It is hard to believe it is mid-February and we are already getting some Spring crops seeded in the greenhouse. It was almost 40° F outside, and definitely into the 70’s in the greenhouse.
Here’s a quick video update on our greenhouse and how I’m hoping to freeze out any pests that over-wintered.
Our Tulsi (Holy Basil) always does very well, but this year we planted some in the greenhouse with the drip irrigation so we wouldn’t have soil splashing up on it. Wow, it really loves the greenhouse!
